Leahy's Open Farm
Only twenty minutes away is the fun filled Leahy’s Open Farm.
A day at Leahy’s Open Farm is an unforgettable experience full of fun, adventure, and exploration. From the moment you step foot on the farm, you can expect to be surrounded by the beauty of nature. The feeling of the sun on your skin and the sweet smell of freshly cut hay will fill your senses. Your day will likely start off with a visit to the animals. You’ll get to check out Daisy the cow, a Jersey Cross Fresian, whose milk is used to make the farm’s very own ice cream. The goats are just round the corner and hang out with all their feathered buddies, Golden Pheasants, Marron Hens and Jill and Jack, the Geese family. Jill the Goose and Jack the Gander like to splash around in the water and every spring at Leahy’s Open Farm Jill makes a nest and lays her eggs. She will sit on the eggs for a month and if you are are luck you might just see her little goslings hatch.
Dancer the Deer will also be waiting to see you along with Falla and Bella, the two miniature Fallabella Horses and everyone’s favourite donkey, Shelia. Also living outside on the farm are baby calves, a family of Alpaca’s, camels and emu’s and there is lots more inside. The friendly and fluffy bunny rabbits and Guinea pigs love to be cuddled but just watch out for Houdini, the Corn Snake ! The Ice Cream and Chocolate factory at Leahy’s Open Farm is always open and makes chocolates, lollipops and homemade ice cream, it even has a massive chocolate fountain for dipping strawberries and marshmallows into. A sop at Nan’s Nook museum will let you take a nostalgic trip down memory lane before having a blast in the Indoor Play Barn and Farmer’s Fun House where there is go karting, slides and tunnels to master.
Back outside the Adventure Trail and Climbing Towers are a great challenge for all children where they can race against their friends to the top of the towers and back again. Digger Park has real JCB Diggers and boys and girls can ride them and actually work a real JCB mini digger – this is seriously fun for mums and dads too. Finally, jump on the Barrel Train and take a trip to Melzies Fairy Fort Garden or to the Viking Crannog House before enjoying a well-earned break in the Old Lantern Coffee Shop. It’s an amazing day out at Leahy’s Open Farm.
